The Riverview High School Kiltie Band is a 200+ member music program known throughout Sarasota for its musical excellence, Scottish traditions, and strong Kiltie family.
The program includes Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Varsity Band, Bagpipes, Highland Dance, and Color Guard. Kilties perform throughout Sarasota and beyond, from Friday night football games and community events to concert stages and international appearances.
Since 1958, the Kilties have consistently earned Superior ratings at Florida Bandmasters Association Music Performance Assessments, a standard upheld year after year by Kiltie students and directors.
For the students who wear the tartan, being a Kiltie means musicianship, discipline, pride, friendship, and becoming part of a tradition they’ll carry long after graduation.
a place to grow
Music education is at the heart of the Kiltie program. Students develop their musicianship through ensemble instruction, performance, private lessons, and opportunities to study beyond the classroom. Along the way, they build discipline, confidence, leadership and the ability to be part of something larger than themselves.
The program supports students in continuing that growth through private instruction, summer music, dance and leadership programs, and scholarships for graduating seniors—giving Kilties opportunities to explore their talents and carry what they learn here into whatever comes next.
